NEWS AND VIEWS OF OPSEU LOCAL 719 - Kenora Jail

TERRIFIC NEWS!!

The numbers are in!!

The recent MERC agreement has been released and we are happy to report that the Kenora Jail is receiving 6 Rollovers.

The actual names of the staff receiving the rollovers will be released by Management in the coming days.

Our thanks go out to the Correctons MERC Team, Eddie Almeida, Paul Johnstone and Dan Sidsworth for their hard work in seeing this through.

More Good News!

The recent Regional ERC meeting held in Timmins, Ontario saw some great gains for the unclassified staff in the northern region. An additional agenda item was brought forward by this writer and entered at the meeting to deal with scheduling issues. The regional director, Curt Arthur and his entire management team were advised of the scheduling inequities across all region 6 & 7 institutions and the end result was that the region would endorse and adopt working schedules posted 2 weeks in advance.

And speaking of awesome news...

The Charity Barbecues were a tremendous success again this past summer and early fall. A final donation of over $2300 was made to Kenora Handi-Transit.

In a thank you letter from the director of Handi-Transit there were kind words for all those people involved in making it a great success. Although not a union driven exercise, the local was proud to have played a part in the venture. We look forward to contributing again next year.
